Therapy Questions

What ages/genders do you work with?

I mostly work with adult men and couples, though not exclusively. I work with anyone who has issues around relationships and their life direction

I also work with young adults and, in the right circumstance, adolescents.

Will I be successful in therapy?

It depends. How much you’re willing to engage with yourself and your own work will reflect your success.

What happens in your sessions with clients?

We will begin by looking at your life. Right now.

Where are you, right now? In your emotional life? In your work life? Etc.

Then, we’ll blend a combination of therapeutic moments, coaching moments, and psychoeducational moments. All these will be explored through the lens of “your life right now.”

During therapeutic moments, we’ll explore the root causes of anything not going well in your life, right now. This is where we determine what expressions, actions, and feelings are related to a particular issue. These revelations will give us clues and show us where to explore. Then, we see what we find and integrate it how we can. This brings us to coaching moments.

During coaching moments, we integrate any learnings we had about ourselves, our lives, and how/why we show up in particular ways. We’ll discover what’s useful and attempt to implement what we can into your life right now.

This is pragmatism.

During psychoeducational moments, I will offer context to what’s in the room by explaining a little bit of a (psychological) map. This will give you a context to place yourself – a terrain where you can locate yourself and understand how to move. Much of my psycho-education is about the psycho-biological models and attachment models I’ve studied.

If this sounds a bit heavy, know this: if all is going well with the therapy, there is bound to be a lot of laughter, celebration, and excitement.

Do your clients receive assignments to work on between sessions?

I’m pragmatic and enjoy finding methods to implement new ways of being and expressing into your life.

Together, we’ll discuss, and clarify, which areas of your life to implement these actions for specific results.

This could be working on telling your wave partner that you love them but need some space. It could be tracking your morning routine for stability. It could include recalling how often you have an ambivalent thought throughout your day (this task was given to me by my therapist).👍 We’ll continue to return to the question about how what you’re learning in therapy can be brought into your life.

What do you need to know to make the most out of working with me?

This is all about you.

About your life. Your core beliefs. Your openness and ability to love, connect deeply with others, and give of yourself.

The more you engage, the more you transform.
